We on the East Coast of the US are watching and listening carefully as the story of Hurricane Sandy begins to unfold. The size and complexity of this storm system is unprecedented. Be warned, prepare and stay safe. We can build barriers and strengthen our homes and businesses, but with all the advance notice, no one should be in the way of flood waters. Look to the hurricane stories of the past to be reminded of how quickly waters can rise and how powerful and devastating they can be. Better safely evacuated than sorry.
