Open Water

In an effort to prepare myself for the inevitable change from open water to months of snow covered ice I've gathered my favorite lake views from the 2014 season.  I'll see you in the spring. CS

How to Stay Creative

I seldom feel uninspired.  Oh, I may have the occasional day when negativity creeps in and overwhelms my creative side.  I've learned to wait out these unproductive moods and, sure enough, I wake the next morning to clarity and excitement over the beauty that waits out there to be discovered.  I try to live by these simple guidelines:

Don't let a moment of the day pass unnoticed.  Find the humor, the irony and the beauty in a seemingly lackluster experience.

Be patient.  If you haven't found your daily spark, don't stop looking.  It's there.

Let your mind wander outside the box.

Don't conform.
Be ready with notebook or camera.  "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".
Nurture your creative self.  Give yourself a pat on the back each time you create something new.  The artist is an integral part of each creation.  Others can love it or leave it!  :)

Coastal Holidays

I know it's early, but if I don't create my coastal holiday pieces now I'll be too busy to take the time I'll need to do them with care.  These new ornaments are just the beginning of this year's offerings.  I combined my love of drawing with my love for splashing paint on blank surfaces and came up with these ceramic ball ornaments.  Each is unique as they're created one by one in my studio.  There are two sizes for now, 3" diameter and 4" diameter and more variety will be coming shortly.  Cheers.  Time to dig out the old standby holiday CD's!  http://www.thecoastalsoul.com
